S.M. Electric, serving as prime contractor, facilitated cooperation between mechanical, civil and other subcontractors. This prototype resource recovery unit is one of the most significant plants of this type in the United States.

The facility processes up to 1,540 tons of solid waste each day, producing enough electrical energy to power some 30,000 homes and businesses.
